S.C.I.P. - Sullivan County Intervention Program

The Sullivan County Department of Corrections currently oversees the Sullivan County Intervention Program also known as SCIP.

This program works in conjunction with both Claremont and Newport District Courts.  Offenders are ordered to participate in this six month program as an alternate to being incarcerated.

Each offender is required to attend weekly meetings and is subject to random alcohol and drug screens.  During their participation review hearings are held at the sentencing court to provide client updates.

The Sullivan County Intervention Program is a series of trainings which are intended to provide participants with usable strategies to implement a working knowledge of intervention, addiction and chemical dependency.  Introduced throughout the training will be the concepts of alcoholism as a real, progressive and multi-phase disease, the stages of addiction, the treatment of addiction, physical considerations of use and dependency.
