Fiddleheads from the Ostrich Fern are a nutritious spring vegetable that come up every year and are easy to grow. Join us for a casual workshop all about fiddleheads, where we'll cover
> Identification: how to tell the edible Ostrich fern from any other fern (which are not edible), in bud or in leaf
> Cultivation: how to grow fiddlehead plants yourself. At the workshop we'll be transplanting some plants for hands-on practice!
> Preparation: how to cook, pickle and store fiddleheads for eating. We'll also have some sauteed fiddleheads for you to taste.
More location directions: 46 Spring Farm Road in Claremont. If coming from Claremont, take Chestnut Street off Broad Street. Chestnut turns into 2nd NH Turnpike. Spring Farm Road is on the left just past a cornfield, before entering Unity. Fruhlingsfarm is 1000' down Spring Farm Road, on the left)
