Foresters: SAF-1.0 category 1 CFE credit
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
Join us for a walk through a "cut-to-length" timber harvest being conducted in Charlestown Town Forest. The tour will be led by foresters Jeff Snitkin from Bay State Forestry Service and Dode Gladders from UNH Cooperative Extension. We will look at the equipment used for this type of mechanized harvest and discuss how foresters go about long-term forest management planning to meet landowner objectives. Be prepared for winter weather and bring appropriate footwear. Since parking space is limited, carpooling in encouraged.
Directions: The site is located on Acworth Stage Road. From the center of Charlestown follow Sullivan Street to Old Claremont Road, then turn right onto Acworth Road, then left onto North Hemlock Road, and then left onto Acworth Stage Road. The log landing will be on your right after the horse barn.
For questions about this event, contact Jeff Snitkin at firstname.lastname@example.org or 802-310-0292. Hosted by UNH Coop Ext. and Bay State Forestry Service.
